Höveler SENIOR-Cobs is the ideal basic feed for older horses. If the horse has already lost some or worn down their teeth it is usually difficult for them to eat basic food such as hay, grass, silage and straw in their natural form. However, in order to keep the digestion in tact horses need a minimum ration of roughage of at least 1 kg per 100 kg weight.

If the ration includes too little roughage, digestive and metabolic disorders can arise quickly. Excessive weight loss and a decreased vitality are the first signs of an undersupply of digestible crude fibre. The feeding of concentrates with grains cannot in any way substitute the basic feed – when being given too much it even stresses the organism and increasingly worsens the horse’s nutritional condition.
